Privacy

This page describes what we collect and how we use it. It is written to be read.

What we collect

• Account: your name, email address, and a hashed password. We never store the password itself.
• Profile (optional): display name, city, state, postal code, region, political perspective, bio, and interests. All optional except display name.
• Activity: pledge affirmations, event RSVPs, saved items, conversation responses, chapter applications, newsletter subscriptions, and reports you file.

What we never do

• We never display your email address or postal code to other members or the public.
• We never store an IP address with a pledge affirmation.
• We never request your browser's location.
• We never sell or share member data with parties, candidates, campaigns, or advertisers.
• We never publish a membership list. The member count on the homepage is an aggregate only.

Public profiles

Public profiles are off by default. If you turn yours on, other visitors can see your display name, city and state, your political perspective if you chose to share it, and your bio. Nothing else.

Conversation responses

Responses are reviewed before publication. Published responses show your display name and, if shared, your political perspective. Responses that are pending, hidden, or removed are visible only to you and to moderators.

Rate limiting

To prevent abuse, unauthenticated forms (sign-up, contact, newsletter, chapter applications) are rate-limited. The limiter uses your network address only as a temporary counter and does not store it.

Removing your data

Email the contact address in the footer from the address on your account. We will delete your account and its activity. Aggregate counts are not affected.

Changes

We will note material changes to this page in the newsletter and on this page with a date.
